Magic Arena Sees Record Number of Users for Final Fantasy Release
On June 10th, Magic Arena saw a record number of users thanks to the release of Final Fantasy on the platform. According to data from SteamCharts, there was a peak of 17,989 concurrent users logged in via Steam. This shattered the previous record of 12,215 during the launch of Bloomburrow in August 2024. And remember—these numbers only reflect players using Steam, meaning the actual user base was likely much larger.
Over the past week, Magic Arena has continued to maintain high activity, consistently hitting over 12,000 concurrent users during peak hours each day. It’s clear that the Final Fantasy release has brought a surge of both new and returning players to the game.
Final Fantasy is clearly a massive success for Magic: The Gathering, and I hope this trend continues as we move through the rest of this year’s sets. If this momentum carries over into paper play, we could see record attendance at local game stores (LGS) and higher overall engagement with the game.
Of course, with the astronomical popularity of this set comes equally astronomical prices for individual cards. A great way to stay competitive—without spending a fortune—is to use Final Fantasy proxy cards. Proxies are perfect for casual Commander nights, playtesting for major tournaments, or simply exploring new decks without breaking the bank.
Don’t spend hundreds of dollars just to keep up with the meta. Final Fantasy proxy cards let you enjoy the latest decks and strategies while keeping your wallet intact.
